- Division Chief, Cardiac Surgery at the Medical College of Georgia

The Department of Surgery at MCG is seeking applications for Chief of Adult Cardiac Surgery to join a growing practice within Georgia and South Carolina. This individual will have overall responsibility for the Adult Cardiothoracic Program and will report directly to the Chair, Department of Surgery.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Will spend 90% of his clinical time on activities related to the program.
Will maintain operative privileges at Wellstar MCG Health.
Will be responsible for the daily management of the cardiac surgery service including but not limited to:
o The evaluation and acceptance of patients for cardiac surgery.
o Supervising the post-operative management of cardiac surgery patients.
o Maintaining a call schedule of cardiac surgery attending physicians.
o Design and implementation of cardiac surgery protocols at Wellstar MCG Health.
o Direct oversight of cardiac surgery attending clinical outcomes and professionalism.
o Providing oversight into cardiac surgery outcomes, including cardiac surgery-specific morbidity and mortality.
o Providing oversight into cardiac surgery-specific quality improvement initiatives.
Will work with Wellstar MCG Health leadership to provide cardiac surgery-specific community outreach programs in program development, education, and fundraising.
Will work with Cardiology and anesthesia leadership to maintain a seamless integration of cardiology and anesthesia services as they pertain to the performance of cardiac surgery.
Will help develop and coordinate cardiac surgery clinical research activities.
Will supervise students and trainees from non-physician medical disciplines as they rotate on the Cardiac Surgery service at MCG.
Will fulfill medical staff requirements to maintain privileges in good standing at both Wellstar MCG Health.
