Assistant/Associate Professor

UConn Health and the University of Connecticut School of Medicine are seeking a Board Certified academic thoracic surgeon to join our vibrant and growing Section of Thoracic Surgery as a full-time academic faculty member. This position will play a key role in the continued expansion of a growing regional thoracic surgery practice, including the development of referral networks and outreach initiatives, while supporting the division's mission of delivering high-quality patient-centered care, advancing research initiatives, and contributing to educational activities within an academic health system.
Responsibilities will encompass all aspects of patient care, including pre-operative evaluation, intra-operative management, and post-operative care of thoracic surgical patients. The successful candidate will be expected to perform the full spectrum of general thoracic surgical procedures for both benign and malignant disease, with demonstrated expertise in minimally invasive techniques, including Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) and robotic thoracic surgery.
Preference will be given to candidates with a high interest in esophageal cancer, advanced endoscopic skills, a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience, and a desire to contribute to the continued growth and expansion of the thoracic surgery program. The candidate should also have a strong interest in research and education of thoracic surgery fellows, surgical residents, and medical students.
A dedication to teamwork and strong leadership skills are mandatory. Collaboration with our interventional pulmonology team, active participation in our multidisciplinary tumor board, and a consistent role within our Cancer Center are essential components of this position.
