The University of Vermont Health Network - Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital (CVPH) is a private, non-profit, level II trauma center serving a tri-county area of 170,000 in northeastern New York. CVPH is a regional tertiary center that offers high technology and is JCAHO accredited. It is one of eight
state-designated Regional Resource Centers for Emergency Management and is a Designated Area Trauma Center in the state Lifestar Trauma System. CVPH is fully committed to IHI's 5 Million Lives campaign. This program has been recognized nationally and at the state level for its excellence and outcomes. There are more than 160 physicians on the Medical Staff, 92% of whom are Board Certified. Some 2011 statistics: 11,430 admissions, 99,575 patient days, 912 births, 49,660 emergency room visits and 17,648 surgical procedures. CVPH offers excellent, accredited continuing medical education programs. The Medical Center provides a supportive environment in which to practice. In 2005, CVPH expanded its cardiology services to include open-heart surgery and angioplasty to meet a significant community need. CVPH is licensed as a 341-bed acute care hospital. The staff at CVPH prides itself on providing a wide range of highly sophisticated services rarely found in a rural community.
