The Division of Cardiac Surgery at Yale University School of Medicine/ Yale New Haven Medical Center is accepting applications for a one-year Advanced Aortic Surgical Fellowship beginning July 1, 2026. The Division of Cardiac Surgery anchors a comprehensive, high-volume academic aortic surgery practice. This fellowship is intended for individuals who have recently completed a cardiothoracic surgical residency and are seeking additional operative experience and training in Advanced Aortic Surgical techniques. It is also intended for practicing cardiac surgeons with an interest to develop an aortic surgery practice. The Yale Aortic Institute is a leading center for the treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic diseases. The Advanced Aortic Surgical Fellowship training will provide exposure to the entire breadth of open, hybrid, and endovascular surgical techniques including aortic valve repair, valve sparing root reimplantation, total and hybrid arch repair, TEVAR, and open and endovascular thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair. Cardiac surgeons and the aortic fellow are integrally involved in all TEVAR and thoracoabdominal operations. A robust conventional cardiac surgical service rounds out the rest of our program. Responsibilities will include operative and perioperative management and pre-and post-operative clinics. Interested Advanced Aortic Surgical Fellows will have opportunities to perform clinical outcomes research.
USMLE I and II are required.
